A Diorama of a Typical WW11 Coastal Docks
During the Build Up to D-Day
This Diorama which is currently awaiting restoration was built by the late John Pape 1946 – 2021. The model dock basin is designed to be flooded with real water and with air bubbles blown up under the floating ship models. It depicts the typical small dockyard of the period maintaining Fast Patrol Boats, Motor Torpedo Boats and Landing Craft. The depicted basin is connected to the sea by a tidal lock giving access at high tide. Landing Craft are beached on the shore beneath the White Cliffs.
